The Jolly Mon is a song that was written by Jimmy Buffet in 1985 after sailing through the Caribbean with his daughter Savannah Jane Buffett.

Remember that when we listen we use our ears, we use our eyes, we do NOT use our mouths, and usually we will NOT use our bodies.
Later, in 1988, the song was turned into a picture book with illustrations that would help readers to see the magic of the song. There is also a good chance that the writers of the Pirates of the Caribbean Movies were inspired to name the boat that Jack Sparrow uses in the beginning of the movie "The Curse of the Black Pearl" the Jolly Mon because of this song and book.

If learning the dance does not interest you please move to the back carpet. You will need to sit silently while the other children do the activity. I HIGHLY suggest that you give it a try!

Watch the video and when they sing about PRESTO run as fast as you can in your own spot. You may not run around the room. When they sing about LARGO run in your own square as slowly as you can. Remember...you are boys and girls and not turtles and bunnies! When the bunny falls to the floor you should not. All boys and girls must stay on their feet!
