Welcome to Grade 5 music
In Fifth Grade I will be able to:
- Understand the concepts of articulation, style, and phrasing
- Read and perform using standard notation and counting rhythms through the use of Octavos
- Sing basic two part harmonies, or descants
- Understand that proper body alignment, and breath support is important in producing a clear singing tone
- Perform in concerts with an awareness of energy and emotion that reflects my audience
- Focus on the conductor during a performance with an awareness of: attacks and releases, changes in dynamics, tempo changes, entrance cues and other expressive gestures
- Evaluate a performance using teacher and/or student provided evaluation criteria

Make yourself familiar with the notes of the TREBLE (G) clef. This clef is played by the right hand on the piano.
