Cape Cod Girls

Cape Cod girls they have no combs,
Heave away! Heave away!
They comb their hair with codfish bones,

We are bound for Australia!
Chorus:

Heave away, my bully, bully boys,
Heave away! Heave away!
Heave away and     don't you make a noise,
We are bound for Australia!

Cape Cod boys they have no sleds,
They slide down dunes on codfish heads.

Cape Cod men they have no sails

They sail their boats with codfish tails.

Cape Cod ladies have no pins
They pin their gowns with codfish fins.

Cape Cod doctors they have no pills,
They give their patients codfish gills.

Cape Cod cats they have no tails,
They lost them all in sou'east gales.

Pay Me My Money Down

Well, I thought I heard the captain say

“Pay me my money down.
Tomorrow is my sailing day

Pay me my money down.”

CHORUS

Pay me, pay me,

Pay me my money down.
Pay me or go to jail.

Pay me my money down.

Verse 2:

Soon as the boat was clear of the sand bar
Pay me my money down
Well, he knocked me down with the end of a spar
Pay me my money down

CHORUS

Verse 3:
Well if I’d been a rich man’s son
I’d sit on the river and watch it run.

CHORUS

Verse 4:

Well, I wish that I was Mr. Gates
I’d haul my money in egg crates

CHORUS

Verse 4:
Well, 40 nights, 40 nights at sea
Captain worked every last dollar out of me.

CHORUS

Scrapin' Up Sand

1)  Scrapin' up sand in the bottom of the sea
    Shiloh, Shiloh.
Scrapin' up sand in the bottom of the sea
    Shiloh, Liza Jane.

    Oh, how I love her.
    Oh, Liza Jane!
    Oh, how I love her.
    Goodbye Liza Jane!

2)  Black my boots, gonna make them shine...

3)  Hopped up a chicken and it flew upstairs...

4)   A hump backed mule gonna make it my ride...

The Crocodile

One day when I was sailing, the country to explore.
A storm came up and wrecked the ship and drove me to the shore.

(CHORUS)
With a THUMP volarity, WHACK volarity, HOP volarity day.

Just then it was I sighted a fearsome crocodile.
From the tip of his nose to the end of his tail he was 10 thousand miles.
(CHORUS)

That crocodile was clearly from a different place.
I had to climb a mighty pine to look into his face.
(CHORUS)

I started off to sea then with every inch of sail.
And going 9 knots in 10 months time I’d only reached his tail.
(CHORUS)

The crocodile he yawned then and thought he had his victim.
Bu I went down his throat you see, and that is how I tricked him.
(CHORUS)

I traveled on 4 months or more until I reached his belly.
And there were scores of stuff and stores, and plenty of jam and jelly.
(CHORUS)

And for to drive my cares away I’d sing a sailing song.
Soon 7 years flew by although it didn’t feel that long.
(CHORUS)

His skin you see was nine miles thick or somewhere there about.
It took another 20 years to find my way back out.
(CHORUS)

And if you think this is not true, whenever you cross the isle
If you look well you’ll see the shell of the roaring crocodile.
(CHORUS)
